Independence

Toba Tek best describes the state of mind of the people at the time of partition. The short-story is one of the finest of Partition Literature which deals strongly with the life and times of common man away from the politics of the elites.

This best describes the lunacy that followed the partition from a poet who herself had to migrate from west to east

We celebrate our collective freedom forgetting the events that followed after the Independence. We all hear about the grandeur but never talk about melancholic phase of it. And worst of all have we learned out lessons?
